This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient Stoic philosopher Seneca's work, On Anger, book 1

It focuses specifically on his views on the relationship between anger and punishment. Seneca rejects the claim that anger is required in order to punish rightly. He also sets out a conception of punishment as primarily about healing the offender and protecting others.
