This lecture discusses the 20th century philosopher and historian of ideas, Pierre Hadot, and focuses on chapter 3 of his book, Philosophy As a Way of Life. This lecture discusses Hadot's contention that philosophy as developed, understood, and practiced in antiquity involved what can best be described as an entire range of "spiritual exercises".
