This lecture discusses the 16th century philosopher, theologian, and mathematician, Blaise Pascal, and focuses on his work, the Pensees.

Specifically it discusses two key aspects of human being, what he calls the greatness (grandeur) and the misery (misere). Pascal thinks that many people go astray by attending only to one of these aspects, without paying attention to the other.
