This is a short reflection on an insightful passage from Lev Shestov's book All Things Are Possible (part 1, ch. 42), in which he discusses the "raptures of the creative process" imagined by consumers of creative works, and the mistaken syllogistic inference they engage in. A more realistic view is that "creative activity is a continual progression from failure to failure".
