This lecture discusses key ideas from the 19th century Utilitarian philosopher John Stuart Mill's work, Utilitarianism

It focuses specifically his discussion in chapter 2, in which Mill discusses why many people do not in fact prefer qualitatively higher pleasures to lower pleasures. He discusses cases of weakness of will, and cases where a person loses his or her capacity to appreciate higher pleasures.
