This lecture discusses key ideas from the modern empiricist philosopher David Hume' Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding
It focuses specifically on where we get our conception of power or cause from. Hume considers whether we could get this notion from observing material bodies and their interactions, the interaction between our minds and our bodies, or the operations of the mind, specifically the will. He rejects each of these and says that it comes instead from our custom or habit of expecting necessary or customary connections between things we experience.
