This lecture discusses the medieval Christian thinker, monk, and bishop, Anselm of Canterbury's work, the Monologion, and focuses on the doctrine of degrees of being that plays a central role in his work. According to this broadly Platonic doctrine, there are gradations of being, going from bare being to living being, to sentient being, to rational being.
