It focuses upon chapter 14, specifically on his discussion of several differing representative accounts of the virtues, including those of Homer, Aristotle, the New Testament, Benjamin Franklin, and Jane Austin. Examining these he distinguishes between conceptions of virtues that are based on social roles, utility, and the telos for human being as such.
