My guest for Ep. 5 has researched extensively the government ethics concerning active duty social media influencers and how DoD could adapt to a telework or hybrid model.

He’s a captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, and in 2020 won the Adm. John S. Jenkins Writing Award from the National Institute of Military Justice for his research on active duty social media influencers. He also examines the future of work, especially how the Department of Defense could adapt to telework and how the events of 2020 catalyzed looming digital transformations that accelerate productivity by decreasing costs through automation and decentralization.

Matt writes at the nexus of ethics and innovation in national security. His research and publications on military social media influencers have driven policy changes across the Department of Defense. Matt’s current projects center on the evolving nature of warfare and how talent management strategies must adapt to recruit and retain a different type of talent. His most latest writings focus on leadership and trauma, and how leaders must be mindful of what triggers people are experiencing when working as a team together.

Matt is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, where he served as the Chairman of the Cadet Honor Committee, and Vanderbilt Law School.
