Iain Nelson currently resides in Syracuse, New York. When he's not running or training for his next ultra you could find him on a golf course, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. In the early 2000's, Iain started running a few miles to stay in shape while living in Houston, TX. It wasn't until after 2008, after he moved to Detroit, MI that Iain began participating in races as a purely social endeavor and to spend time with friends. In the podcast, Iain shares his story of taking a giant leap from half marathons as a way to socialize to a different type of competitive race, ultra marathons. We talk with Iain about life lessons that help him in both running and life, as well as running back-to-back ultras as he prepares for his first 100-miler. He also shares helpful advice and quotes from Steve Prefontaine, Admiral William McRaven, and John Wooden.
