The next time something goes sideways in your life and you aren't sure about the immediate steps to fix it, try this four-part process to fix it in less than 5 minutes:
1. Stop and breathe. Gather yourself, your thoughts and your feelings
2. Assess the situation. It is difficult to move forward without knowing exactly where you are or what is going on.
3. Determine the endpoint. You need to get clear on what you want or how you will fix whatever is happening so you can measure success.
4. Take the first action. What is it that you can do right now to start doing something in your control to fix whatever is going on (there is always something you control!)
