October is the spookiest month, so we’re joined by horror expert Louise Blain to discuss new TV series The Haunting Of Bly Manor and classic movie Final Destination. Is Netflix’s gothic romance – loosely adapted from the works of Henry James – a worthy successor to last year’s Hill House series? We talk ghosts, accents, and adaptations. In our regular Rewind retro section, the crew share their love for 2000’s iconic teen death-dodging film. Is it worth a rewatch this Halloween?

Meanwhile, we’ve been to the year 3000 – and beyond. We give our verdict on Star Trek: Discovery’s big jump to the future in the season three opener. And the Baby Yoda Show will be back soon, along with its supporting Mandalorian. As the trailers keep coming for the Disney streaming service’s secret weapon, it seems like a good time to ask if the future of Star Wars is on the small screen.

There’s all this plus Green Lantern, The Stand, Buck Rogers, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Mad Max in Robby The Robot’s Waiting, the perfectly splendid podcast where there are no accidents, no coincidences, no escapes...

Episode highlights:

1.00 – What we’re watching: Star Trek: Discovery returns, with our heroine crashing into a man and his cat, 900 years in the future. We set phasers for fun.

10.22 – The Mandalorian will be back at the end of the month! And Obi-Wan looks certain to pull a Jedi mind trick on the TV schedules soon too. We punch the Disney+ coordinates into the navicomputer and speculate on where Star Wars will take us next.

24.40 – We had Bly hopes for the follow up to The Haunting Of Hill House. We journey to a stately home in the 1980s and weigh the scary against the silly.

36.11 – Rewind: it’s been 20 years since Final Destination first cheated death. We look back on the classic teen horror.

51.32 – News: there’s a new trailer for The Watch, Buck Rogers might be making a comeback, Doctor Strange will be in Spider-Man 3, Imperator Furiosa will have her own Mad Max prequel series, we’d love to see Green Lantern in the Arrowverse, and more.
