A wayward takahe couple have been recaptured ten days after escaping from their sanctuary at Tawharanui. Walter and Manaaki went roaming through the Tawharanui Regional Park, covering a distance of around 20 kilometres and evading capture until yesterday. Matt Maitland is a senior ranger at Auckland Council who led the search operation.
