Thousands are expected at Addington Raceway on Tuesday for the New Zealand Trotting Cup.
The harnessed-horse race is a big event on the Christchurch social calendar, and this year the New Zealand Cup is worth $750,000.
The cup dates back to 1904, so this will be the 120th running of the race.
Addington Raceway chief executive Brian Thompson spoke to Corin Dann.
