Fire alarms subject to "malicious" tampering, smoke stop doors missing and trickling hoses for fighting fires. These are some of what fire inspections and investigations have been finding at government-subsidised emergency housing providers in the Bay of Plenty. At one, firefighters faced off with aggressive dogs. Phil Pennington, who on Friday reported how a whole layer of fire safety inspections in the Bay is missing, has been looking into this and spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
