Consumer advocates are questioning whether electricity users are getting a raw deal as the big three state-controlled power companies post big profits.
Meridian Energy yesterday reported a 55 percent increase in its full-year net profit, to $664 million.
Combined with Genesis and Mercury, the three 'gentailers' made a combined annual net profit of $1.35 billion.
