The number of unqualified people working as school teachers has more than doubled since the pandemic began.
Education Ministry figures show more than 1,800 people were working in schools in December with what's known as Limited Authority to Teach.
There were fewer than 900 at the same time in 2019.
What's more, three of those people are working as principals.
