The sentencing of companies over their health and safety failings in the lead-up to the deadly Whakaari White Island eruption starts in Auckland on Monday.
Six parties will be sentenced, including the company that granted access to the volcanic island, following a criminal trial into the 2019 disaster which killed 22 people and injured 25 others.
The sentencing is being held at the Environment Court for the next two weeks.
