The clean-up of asbestos roofing, damaged when a tornado ripped through a light industrial area in Christchurch yesterday, is still underway this morning.
The tornado came with a sudden change in weather early yesterday afternoon, when large hailstones pelted the city, along with thunder and strong winds.
Two people were moderately injured when a store's roof collapsed.
RNZ reporter Anan Zaki is in Sydenham, which was hit hard by the tornado.
