The US Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has landed in Taiwan, despite warnings by China.
Pelosi is on a tour of Asia, and while Taiwan is not an official stop on the tour, she had been widely expected to visit during her trip to the region.
It's the first such visit in 25 years China's Foreign Ministry had warned against such a visit.
Washington correspondent Simon Marks has been following developments.
