Machete-wielding man shot dead by police in Papatoetoe

A man living near the scene of a fatal police shooting in Auckland overnight heard screaming and yelling, and the man taunting neighbours to call the police, before he was killed.
Police say said the machete-wielding man smashed windows in the house of a terrified family, as well as damaging cars and powerlines.
Forensic teams and investigators are at the scene on the residential Central Ave in Papatoetoe, cordoned off and quiet, after a night of horror.
