A former mayor of Tauranga believes Commissioners continuing to run the city council isn't good for democracy.
In late 2020, mayor Tenby Powell resigned, and councillors were subsequently sacked and replaced with commissioners after significant governance problems plagued the council.
Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta is in Tauranga on Friday and the future of the council's leadership is expected to be decided.
