Heartland New Zealand has turned from blue to red, with a rural voters swing away from the National Party and towards Labour.
Saturday's election threw up a host of surprises, including Labour's snatching of some provincial National strongholds, such as Rangitata, Wairarapa and East Coast.
But are farmers deserting the party that's traditionally been seen as serving their needs best?
