There's a real possibility of Omicron spreading among the likely hundreds of unvaccinated protesters living in close quarters around Parliament.
The unvaccinated are much more likely than the vaccinated to need hospital care if they catch the virus.
Wellington Hospital chief medical officer Dr John Tait says the hospital has plans in place to deal with an influx of sick, infectious people.
He spoke to Corin Dann.
