Rich Take On Sports

Show Notes:

Rich Spotlight: John Brenkus

Very blessed to be in a position of being recognized as the “Sport Science Guy” when in public after 1,800 segments of Sport Science
Grew up in Vienna, VA and sports became intertwined in his life at an early age because he was drawn in as a fan first
Influenced by the success of the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Bullets
Baseball was his main sport growing up and ran cross-country in high school
Being an athlete was not his identity but athletics were a part of his life
Sport Science originated from a show on Discovery Channel called “XMA Extreme Martial Arts” which led to a show, “Fight Science”, on National Geographic
Firmly believes that a person can do anything they CAN not anything they WANT
His wife Lizzie refers to him as Johnny One-Speed because of his ability to either be all-in or all-out
Became focused on being an endurance athlete after a friend ran a marathon
Contends that his wife Lizzie is even a better endurance athlete than him
Brink of Midnight is the band they formed together after releasing a music video at Christmas in 2014 called “Christmas is My Favorite Time of Year
The band was the inspiration for the Brink of Midnight Podcast as a way to spread positive messages from luminaries from all walks of life about specific moments that changed their lives
Ray of Hope Foundation is a passion of John’s as it’s mission is dedicated to uplifting those in dire need through sharing personalized videos – “rays of hope” – from the many luminaries and game-changers who support the charity
Stay tuned for more announcements about the next iteration of Sport Science
Words of Wisdom from John Brenkus: “Learn how to do everything yourself and then you can recognize your strengths and your weaknesses but you’ll be able to be self-sufficient”
