Rich Spotlight: Nelson Faerber

Last name is pronounced “Fair-ber”
Even though started playing baseball first, football is favorite because he enjoyed hitting people
Has always had the drive to outwork anyone and had aspirations of playing in college after seeing a fellow Chattahoochee High School alum Charlie Whitehurst play at Clemson
Turned down multiple football scholarships at the military academies to become a preferred walk-on at Clemson
Would play Wide Receiver and Special Teams where Dabo Swinney would be his position coach at WR
Was instrumental in the annual rivalry game versus South Carolina in 2007 blocking a punt which was returned for a TD and catching a pass for a TD to help preserve the win 23-21
Was tempted to pursue playing in the NFL but decided law school would be his career path
Attended Florida State University to earn his Law Degree where he would then join the Air Force and serve with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in Afghanistan
Now married to former Miss South Carolina, Erika Powell, he is continuing the pursuit of serving as a Republican candidate for South Carolina Secretary of State
Words of Wisdom from Nelson Faerber: “No one wants to put the overalls on. People want to play on Saturdays but not many want to put the overalls on and do the hard work and this gives me a great visual to remind myself that you have to put in the hard work.”
