Owen encourages us to make more of Jesus, to lose apathy and compartmentalised familiarity. Is Jesus the thing you cannot lose from your life? Would you be satisfied with a heaven of all your physical, emotional pleasures without sickness, conflict and pain without Jesus...? Or only be satisfied if Jesus is there?

One Question - Why don't You stop all this fighting and war?

As Christians we can be content, have hope and be encouraging in life rather than grumbling and moaning. Through this, like stars, we shine the light of Jesus into a dark world, offering the message of life.

Jesus is the first to be resurrected of many, that will have spiritual bodies when Jesus returns and live in the new creation, heaven on earth. All the work we do for the Lord is not in vain because it has eternal influence and significance through the power of the resurrection to build the Kingdom of God.

God wants each individual to receive grace gifts and us to desire to have them to encourage and build each other up.

The church is the body of Christ, with many members that make up the body, each member has equal value, but serves a different purpose in the unifying mission of Christ as the head.

Times Up - The king has arrived (Mark 1:14–45)

Jesus proclaims that time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand and Himself as the king. There is great urgency in proclaiming the gospel, Jesus is the king of the ordinary days, freedom and healing.

When we know who we are in Christ and so our awesome inheritance in Him, our earthly rights fade into insignificance and we can become a serving and gracious community that fits into the culture whilst remaining distinct by sacrificially presenting the gospel.

Right theology is good, loving is better, as we learn how God loves us we should direct this understanding to loving others well. Is our knowledge of God right? Is there any blockages in our hearts stopping us loving others?

The Gift of Singleness (1 Corinthians 7:1–34)

Singleness and marriage are both gifted uniquely to individuals from Gods individual love and purpose for them.There are unique benefits of singleness and marriage in glorifying God. Both are of equal value. Whatever our 'status' God calls us to live with undivided devotion to Him, not to be dependent on these temporal relationships but on our eternal relationship with God!

We have been made right with God, our sins washed away, bought with a high price so we must honour God with our bodies. They are his and are joined to him, we must set them apart for him not for sexual sin which dishonours God and harms our own bodies.

Kingdom power is not a matter of personality power, we sow and Gods power builds his kingdom. We need to become dependent on the Holy Spirit, but also confident in the power of His work.

A citizen of the kingdom of God lives out that culture in such a way; reconciliation and resolution and lastly suffering, that earthly justice is superfluous.
