Can a relationship be resilient ?

Well it makes sense to believe that can be the case, although with increasingly complex relationships between genders, groups and people they can be more challenging than ever before. And with divorce rates still on the rise, it seems that relationships may be under stress in an increasingly difficult world.

It is my contention that building a solid team at the heart of a complex world can help people live a more productive and happy life.

Relationships can be seen to follow the model of personal resilience that we advocate being able to recover from breakdown, weather the storms of adversity assuming that both people have resilience themselves and they can spot where the resilience in the relationship can be compromised as well as building a strong unit in the good times so that strength can be drawn when things get tough .

At the heart of personal relationships should be the happy ever after contract a process similar to the appraisal process in organisations that allows for the review and refresh of progress against the relationship you actually want or desire .

Also, recognising that we need to build and work together both on the relationship itself and the an approach to the external factors impacting on us can help solidify and strengthen a family unit.

With distractions in personal relationships having a profound and sometimes, catastrophic, effect on our work, it s important to spend some time on ensuring that our personal and work relationships take similar amounts of time to make successful, enriching and effective.
