Lori Lizarraga is an Ecuadorian-Mexican-American journalist from Texas and a Murrow and Emmy-award winning international reporter. She is best known in Bakersfield, California and Denver, Colorado for her community-focused reporting. But this year, Lizarraga gained national attention for her reporting on diversity in the media. Her piece, LatinXed: 9NEWS Got Rid of Three Latina Reporters This Past Year, Including Me, has seen tremendous outcomes for the media industry – including new standards of immigration coverage at more than 60 TV stations across the country. She has gone on to receive awards from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the ACLU of Colorado this summer for her ‘outstanding work to further civil rights and liberties for the citizens of Colorado and Latinos across the country.’
