There's a lot that I wanted to say about the number 42. Levite cities, journeys and encampments in the wilderness (#howmanyroadsmustamanwalkdown) and one of the Divine names. However, there is too much to say about the epic meeting of Yosef and Dovid, as seen in the very complicated and apparent love-hate relationship between Dovid's ancestor Yehuda - chief of the children of Leah, and the children of Rachel - Yosef and Binyomin.

Sometimes they work in tandem and everything is beautiful - the Yam suf splits because of either...or both. The two Messianic figures are from each respectively. The two faithful spies are Yehoshua and Colev - from Yosef and Yehuda.

Yet they have rival kingdoms. Yeravam (from Ephraim - Yosef) sets up golden calves in the north (remember the calf/bull being Yosef's symbol). That is a rift that has not been healed. The tension between the two is unbearable, possibly because each of them has a claim to the throne (think Shaul - Binyomin and Dovid - his son in law - Yehuda).

Can two kings share a crown? Apparently not, it would seem. Unless there is a rapprochement...
