Elisa Stad is on the #ReadingWithYourKids #Podcast to celebrate her new children's book Mama's Love Language. She shares that the book is based on her experience growing up with an immigrant Vietnamese mother who showed love differently than her American father and other parents. Her son inspired her to finally publish the book after years of working on it. The book uses watercolor illustrations to tell the story of a girl named Jade who doesn't understand why her mother is more strict and less affectionate than the other parents. Elisa found the process of writing the book therapeutic as it helped her understand her relationship with her own mother better. Both her son and readers have connected deeply with the story and its exploration of cultural differences in expressing love and emotions.
