Serial Hobbyist

6 episodes - English - Latest episode: over 4 years ago -

My wife calls me a "Serial Hobbyist" because I pick up new hobbies like they're going out of business. I've taught myself to play guitar, the skill of photography, Swift and C# at a level somewhere beyond beginner (but certainly not an expert). I had a fairly successful YouTube channel (until I accidentally unsubscribed 6,000+ people with the click of a button and many more things. So what is this podcast about then? Well it's basically an experiment. I'm going to attempt to upload a weekly episode about something loosely related to my habits of being a seeker of new things to do. Experiences I've had, struggles I've dealt with and of course any new ideas that have yet to pop up into my head. If you're a serial hobbyist and would like to be on the show let me know I'd love to talk to other people like me!

February 27, 2020 12:00 - 11 minutes - 7.77 MB

This week on Serial Hobbyist I talk about the idea that hobbies aren't easy. They require work and effort. This is sort of a continuation from last week's episode about the lazy mindset and how we recommend a hobby to someone without overwhelming them. This week, the focus is more about the simple fact that doing something requires effort. At first we can be excited about the hobbies that we've chosen, and that excitement is what gives us the energy to take action, but as that initial excite...

Let's Talk About the Side Hustle

February 04, 2020 11:00 - 12 minutes - 8.66 MB

In this episode I dive a bit deeper into something I mentioned last week - the side hustle. If you're like me you might start a hobby with the intention of massaging it into a side hustle.  The way I define side hustle is around this word intention. The intention behind the hobby/hustle is where you will find the distinction between the two. If your intention is to grow a brand, business, earn an income or build a following you're probably doing a side hustle. However, if your intention is ...

First Impressions Are Hard - Here Goes Nothing

January 22, 2020 01:00 - 5 minutes - 3.98 MB

The idea is still forming somewhere in the back of my overstuff brain. The idea of - a podcast. However, to get this podcast idea out of my fogged up mind I thought it best to just... start... talking.  In this episode I introduce myself and lay the foundation for what is to become "Ramblings of a Serial Hobbyist". As you can tell from the very early recording of this show there's only an inkling of what it might become - if anything at all - but that doesn't matter. What matters is that I'...
