A close friend was in the neo-black panther party in DC. They were very welcoming if you related to their cause. A few retro style open mic and poetry slam type places were in full effect in DC and NYC at the time, featuring some of the music in this playlist... Enjoy.

It's been a rough week for me. I traveled the week before to Monterey Bay Ca to see my mother, who isn't doing very well. I got home early Monday morning and worked that day.
