Jeffrey Shaw is a photographer, writer, successful business owner, and an all-around master of creativity. As a renowned public speaker and coach, Jeffrey teaches creative entrepreneurs how to harness their creativity and use it to monetize what is meaningful to them. Today he discusses the inner workings of a creative mind, how to embrace your natural strengths, and the personal inspiration behind his podcast, Creative Warriors.

Jeffrey began his career as a highly sought after portrait photographer for an exclusive clientele. His portraits have appeared on Oprah, in O, The Oprah Magazine, People, CBS News, and on the cover of New York Family Magazine. Well into his photography career, he became a trained business coach from The Coaches Training Institute in an effort to help other creative thinkers get connected to their purpose and create prosperity.

In this episode, we’ll cover:

The unique characteristics of creative professionals and how to harness them.
Why it’s important for creative people to embrace their lack of focus.
The common challenges of coaching small, creative businesses.
How to take the big leap into entrepreneurship.
Best hiring practices and constructing the perfect culture fit.
How to create traffic-driven content that is fresh and exciting.

Questions from the show:

“After two years of growing my business, I decided it was time to make my first full-time hire. Unfortunately, I hired someone to duplicate myself. Moving forward, what should I look for in making a hire? Is it important to hire someone in sales? What about marketing?”

—Mike Smith

“I’m a blogger and freelance social media manager. The past couple months, the traffic to my blog has been flat lining, and my subscriptions haven’t increased substantially. What is something I can do to either revamp what I’m doing, or what’s something new and fresh I can do to start boosting my traffic and bring in more clients?”
