II Corinthians Series 18
In this portion, Paul makes his boast. He has the best credentials any of these false apostles could have: a Hebrew, an Israelite, seed of Abraham, servant of Christ. He labored more, and suffered much more than these false apostles could have dreamed of doing. He was constantly in peril, weary, sleepless, hungry, and cold. Besides all this suffering he bore the burden of caring for God’s ekklesia. He boasts, not in his greatness, but in his infirmity. This was the manner of his apostleship from the start, when he escaped from Damascus and Aretas the king, not by a mighty act of power, but by being let down the wall in a bushel-basket.
