Digging deep into a discussion about health, business, mindset and more, Kathleen Gage invites her good friend and colleague, Pat Mussieux to share her insights on success, health and mindset. Pat is a professional speaker, business consultant, coach and author.

Having built a highly successful business after leaving a 22-year marriage, Pat doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to what it takes to succeed.

Pat is a woman of faith who believes God is always working in her life. Through the power of prayer and meditation, she leads a life that inspires others around the globe.

Pat says, “Success is a choice we make day by day. It’s time to give up the excuses and find the reasons why you must take action.”

At nearly 69, Pat not only talks the talk, she walks the walk. Living a vibrant life, running a highly successful business, exercising on a daily basis, eating healthy and keeping her eye on bigger mountains to climb, Pat shows, through example, what’s possible as we age.

Common Excuses

Pat will be the first to shatter common excuses people use that hold them back from the life they are capable of. She says some of the most common ones she hears are:

I’m too old I’m not old enough I don’t have the money I don’t have enough money My partner won’t support me I don’t know how

The way to get to the other side of the excuses is through action. Daily, consistent action.

One way to be a great coach is to be coached by great coaches. During our conversation, Pat shares the process she requires potential clients to go through before she will work with them.

“So bottom line, Kathleen, I'm not interested in the excuse makers anymore. That's the majority of the population. The majority are not prepared to do the work anyway. The majority have not even thought through the conversation. And they're just not aware of what's coming out of their mouth automatically.”

Pat loves working with entrepreneurs who don’t rely on excuses but rather find reasons to go the distance. Taking a wholistic approach to how she works with her clients, they must be committed to physical well-being in addition to business well-being.

She uses an integrated approach to what she does.

According to Pat there are three things someone needs to be successful.

A coach A plan Work the plan

In addition, you need self-care. Self-care is more than a spa day. It’s a mindset. It’s a lifestyle.  And you need to celebrate your victories.

One thing Pat does with her time on the platform, during a keynote, is encourage people to ask themselves what they really want. Due to living longer than ever, the choices they make will either give them a life of misery and poor health, or happiness and health.

Her most requested keynote presentation is “You’re Killing Your Business Because You’re Killing Yourself.”

According to Pat, you are responsible for your happiness. You are responsible for your finances. You are responsible for your mindset.

She knows that might feel burdensome and it probably is to many. And yet there is a way. You need to decide you want it. Secondly, how bad do you want it? And then thirdly, go find the resources because we are out there.
