It was just an ordinary bush; a nondescript desert thorn-bush that, no doubt, Moses had seen many, many times in his 40 year career as a shepherd. I’m sure Moses had gotten familiar with every rock and tree and bush by the time he saw this bush. This ordinary bush.

But there was something different... And no, it wasn’t the fact that the bush was on fire… I’m sure Moses had witnessed a wilderness fire or two over those 4 decades of tending his father-in-law’s flocks. No - what made it different was the fact that, though it was on fire, the bush was not being burnt up; it wasn’t being consumed by the flames.

And from this supernatural experience, nothing would ever be the same for Moses.

You see, without the fire, the bush was just a bush. WITH the fire, it became something greater.

That’s like us. We are celebrating 75 years incorporated as a church. And I hope you’ve understood by now: this building, the Historic Chapel, the proposed youth center --- none of those are the CHURCH. WE are the church.
