Don’t know if you’ve ever thought of this or not, but as disciples you and I have been branded in a sense; marked; called by Jesus to follow Him. And at times the process of branding seems pretty intense. The cinematic series “The Chosen'' does an amazing job at portraying the call of Jesus on the lives of his followers. Among those whom Jesus called to be His disciples was a tax collector (despised by his countrymen), fishermen (tradesmen who did not possess a particularly high level of education or position in society), a political zealot (a man’s whose chief priorities were on the politics of his day), and common ordinary folk. Those are the first followers of Jesus.

We’re in Luke chapter 5 this week, and we’re going to look at the call on four guys’ lives: working class guys with minimum education, fishermen by trade - probably pretty rough around the edges, And at times you gotta know that certain people need a little more “branding” than others, right? But when Jesus called these guys, it was a call to discipleship, which was a life-long call. And like these fishermen, you and I have a branding that lasts for the rest of our lives, too! The calling to follow Jesus is all-consuming, all-encompassing, and designed for us to be “In It for Life!”
