Last week we observed Jesus as he was preparing to make himself known to the people as their promised Messiah. But he was coming, not to set up an earthly kingdom, but a spiritual one. And, while the crowd was very excited - willing to hail him as King - they really didn’t totally understand what that would mean for Jesus; and what it would ultimately mean for themselves.

Here’s the point for this morning: if Jesus is truly YOUR king, then there are some implications that cannot be ignored or even avoided. Those implications, interestingly enough can be seen in an unassuming character in the events that played out that Palm Sunday.

This character wasn’t a disciple for years and years as some of those gathered that day had been; this character didn’t raise his cheers of Hosanna with the adoring crowd; this character didn’t even wave palm branches.

All this character is known for is being NEEDED by the King. Let’s go back to Luke 19, verses 29-31.
