Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Now, you may be like me - you hear this story and you begin to wonder about things like: who cleaned up afterwards? How did the owner of the house feel about the damage to his property?

How long before the crowd became so distracted that Jesus finally just had to stop teaching while the scene was playing out? Did Jesus say something like: “We interrupt this sermon to bring you a paralyzed man. Please direct your attention to what’s left of the ceiling.”? :-)

Was the paralyzed man a little uneasy about being lowered down from the roof? Did he REALLY trust his friends to not drop him? This HAD to be at least somewhat embarrassing: like, “Hey, there - just thought I’d “drop” in.”

I want to see Jesus. I want my FRIENDS to see Jesus as well. And this morning I want to center on what Jesus saw as the main point of it all: Turn to Mark 2, verse 5. When Jesus saw THEIR FAITH…
