ADVENT 2020 - A White Christmas Week 5: WHITE UNTO HARVEST

As we kind of finish up with the traditional Christmas season, I thought of that illustration. Did you get so caught up in the Christmas peripherals that you forgot to invite the One we were celebrating?

What if Jesus were in charge of all of our Christmas celebration weekends? What would he include? What would he leave out? Is it the season that’s the most important - or is it the reason? Because you can have one without the other… you can probably guess the best choice to make in that matter!

What IS the reason for Jesus coming into our world? The answer to THAT question is actually a bonus WHITE that I wanted to throw in before we started a new year. It’s been a White Christmas for this whole Advent Season. Not obviously on the ground outside, but in our study of scripture. We saw the white light of Christmas guiding us to God, the pure unblemished white lamb that would serve as the sacrifice to bring us forgiveness of our sins. We saw how though our sins were as scarlet, because of the sacrifice of that lamb, we are washed white as snow. And we saw that as Jesus came into this world, we now must make a decision about the throne of our hearts - or risk facing eternal punishment standing there at the end of time at the Great White Throne of God.

But there is one more white that I felt important for us to study before we leave the White Christmas in the rearview mirror...and that white actually revolves around the PURPOSE of the incarnation; the REASON that Jesus came to our world in the first place. And believe me, it wasn’t just to add another holiday to our calendar!!
