At 49 years old Irene Alisjahbana has qualified for the world championships for both the full Ironman triathlon in Kona, Hawaii as well as the half ironman championships coming up this fall in St. George Utah, which just so happens to be the very same lake that I completed my first ever triathlon back in 2005.

An ironman triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and finishes with a full 26.2 mile marathon. Irene's best time is an outstanding 14 hours 32 minutes and she recovers so well she typically does 4 full ironman races per year. Irene credits her mostly raw, plant-based diet to her outstanding racing ability and it is such a pleasure to give you the inside scoop on how she fuels her performance.
