The first episode of the Pilipinx-American Stories Podcast Personal Narrative Series! The Personal Narrative Series is a portion of the podcast where we interview guests on their personal history, in order to better understand their processes and motivation to do what they do.
For this week's edition to the Personal Narrative Series, we have Bernard Ellorin, an ethnomusicologist, performer, and teacher of the Philippine arts. We get down and ask Bernard how he was brought up, and what led him to pursue the path that he is on. And also why he continues to do it to this day. One of the biggest factors of his musical journey is to help audiences understand the reason why Philippine music sounds the way it sounds. His performances alongside Samahan Filipino Performing Arts and Pakaragurin Kulintang Ensemble act as a storytelling platform for audiences to better understand this aspect of the culture.
Shout out to Bernard for getting down with us for this week's episode!
