Angelica Rodriguez is a young, Dominican social worker-in-training. To her friends, we call her Jelly. When the education department at her university told her she wouldn't succeed, she joined the social work department, finding a place where all of her passions unite. After watching 13th on Netflix, she realized how passionate she was about prison reform. Throughout her life, Jelly's been counted out, but she refuses to be a negative statistic. She'll make something of herself, even if the only one who believes in her is herself.
In this episode, we discuss Jelly’s dreams, the world she came from, the college dean who told her she wouldn’t be successful, why she wants to work in the prison system, and why she cannot have children.
