Marie & Miss Zoey’s Closet

We are so excited to introduce you  Marie from Miss Zoey’s Closet. She is very talented pet clothing designer and support of G Girl Products and Barbie Young.

Marie grew up in an animal loving family. Growing up, Marie’s dad traveled out of the country frequently. While he was away, her mom would take her, her younger sister, and older brother to the local pet shop. These trips typically meant bringing home a new pet, such as fish, birds, reptiles, and other small animals. Sometimes, an ad in the newspaper or local humane society would her mom taking the kids to pick out another dog or cat.

At one point in her life, Marie and her family had 100 canaries, 2 cockatiel, 5 lovebirds, two dogs, four cats, two snakes, 20 pet rats, and assorted fish in various tanks around the house. When Marie moved away from home (20 miles away) for college, she took her large dog, Jazy, that she’d had since she was 12 years old, and four cats with her.

After her Jazy passed away, Marie felt the need to help rescue dogs. All of her animals have had interesting stories in how she acquired them. Jazy was from a litter of puppies found behind a welding shop in a small town. Marie met a lady in a park in Mexico, MO when she rescued her mini dachshund, Tucker. Marie was in Missouri for a couple of weeks for work, so Tucker lived with her in her hotel room. His favorite part was riding the hotel elevator. Her Weimaraner, Diesel, was rescued from an Amish settlement area. He was dumped at a barn with his AKC registration papers and an obedience school graduation certificate. Diesel ran loose for over a year and was notorious for stealing food, like pies set out within reach. Her most special rescue, and what started her sewing dog clothes, was her Shih Tzu, Miss Zoey Princess.

 One of the unique things about Miss Zoey’s Closet is that they do what Marie calls upcycled clothing. She will take a piece of kids clothing and rework it for a furbaby.
