It's Women's History Month, and I've already been thinking about the lives of women past, and the opportunities they didn't have. My own mother, a woman who was smart and capable and wanting more, reminded me of how tragic it is when people are forced into roles due to societal expectations.

So I decided to call her, after nearly 3 decades of no contact.

You will learn:

Motherhood is a role that's neither intuitive nor desired by all women who become pregnant, resulting in devastating consequences at times.Women's History Month acknowledges the contributions of women past whose sacrifices have made it possible for us to limit family size, vote, get an education, and connect to work that we're passionate about. It's never too late to thank those women in our lives whose contributions we honor.

Stay tuned for my interview with my own role models, including next week's interview with journalist and professor Maria Henson.
