Growing up Mormon left little freedom for Larissa Kindred to take up space. The mandate was clear on how to be a good woman: marry, procreate, and be sure that the needs of the family always came first. Desires for education and a career seemed both selfish and out of reach.

A diagnosis of breast cancer while still in her 30's changed everything.
Today, Larissa is a graduate student researching the impact of Mormon garments on women, and helps support Mormon women in or out of the church to find their voice on issues that matter to them. She has a forthcoming book based on her and a colleagues research.
