Dr. Qubbaj, mechanical engineer and Cool Dean, provides an overview of his childhood years and experiences growing up in the Middle East. Also, he emphasizes the importance of soft skills, what makes a good engineer, leader and knowing your purpose. He talks about finding your why and making a difference in the lives of others. He reveals how he earned the "Cool Dean" title. Dr. Qubbaj is the Dean of the College of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Over the last several years, he has developed several initiatives (and grants) to increase the representation of women (and Latinas) in STEM careers. Dr. Qubbaj received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
