Pawareness Podcast # 65 | The Power of Volunteers | Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

In this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Mirah Horowitz, the Founder and Executive Director of The Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. As a volunteer-run rescue based in Northern Virginia and the DC Metro Area, they rescue animals from high-kill shelters, especially those located in the rural south.

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue started in 2009 after Mirah gathered like-minded volunteers from the community who are passionate about rescuing animals. Mirah recalls how government service has inspired her to lend a helping hand for helpless animals who deserve to have a second chance in life with a forever home and loving families.

Despite its name, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue now offers an active program for cats in the community. Their mission is to connect potential adopters with animals who have been neglected, at risk of euthanasia, and in need of care and attention. Today, they also focus on addressing the prevalent issues concerning animals in their community.
