This is part 2 of a 2-part interview.
A.J. Alper's journey to find passion and growth as an artist was a bumpy one, filled with frustration and disappointment. In his late 40’s, he was sure that he had reached his full potential as an artist and gave up painting altogether, which he did for 7 years. It was the mental work that he did during that time which allowed him to quiet the negative voices in his head and forge a new path. In the past few years, he has become known for his portraiture work, while gaining a growing following on social media. Now, in his late 50’s, he balances a full-time job as a web developer with his burgeoning portraiture career, while also producing educational content for his social media audiences. He’s now learned that it is never too late to find your passion.

AJ’s story and selfless encouragement of other artists continue to inspire and motivate me. It was truly a privilege to speak with him.
